WARDOGS release date: PC is out, consoles are set for 2028

The short answer: WARDOGS came out on PC on September 10, 2026, as a Windows-only Steam Early Access release — it is playable today and has been updated several times since. There is no console version yet: the official PlayStation Store lists the PS5 version for 2028 with no exact day, and Wikipedia's listing records PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions for 2028. Mac, Linux and Steam Deck are not supported, though the developers have said they are working on Proton support for Linux. BULKHEAD has not announced a release date for the full 1.0 version. Every date on this page comes from official store listings and BULKHEAD's own Steam announcements, checked October 26, 2026.

Platform-by-platform status

PlatformStatusDate
PC (Windows)Out — Steam Early AccessSeptember 10, 2026
PlayStation 5Announced, not released2028 (no exact day given)
Xbox Series X|SAnnounced, not released2028 (no exact day given)
macOSNot supported—
LinuxNot supported; developers say Proton support is in the works—
Steam DeckListed as Unsupported—

Precision on the console dates: the PlayStation Store shows “Releases on: 2028” and nothing more specific; the Xbox store page lists WARDOGS for Xbox Series X|S but shows no release date; Wikipedia lists both console versions for 2028. No official source gives a day or month for either console, so be suspicious of any article that does.

Should you buy now or wait?

BULKHEAD itself tells unsure players that waiting for a later update or for 1.0 is “completely okay”, and it encouraged refunding if the beta did not meet expectations. That is unusually honest for a launch — so decide from facts, not hype. Work through this checklist:

  1. On a Windows PC? Check your machine against the official requirements before buying: the minimum spec calls for 16 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 590. The full table is on our WARDOGS game page.
  2. Know what you are buying into: it is an online-only PvP game that needs a broadband connection, it uses kernel-level anti-cheat (Elytra) and it asks you to accept a third-party EULA. If kernel-level anti-cheat is a deal breaker for you, wait.
  3. Check the price on Steam: the base game is $39.99, the Supporter Edition is $49.99, and the Supporter Pack DLC is $12.99 — all cosmetic-only, with no other monetization during Early Access. Decide whether the Supporter Edition is worth it to you.
  4. On Steam Deck, Mac or Linux: do not buy yet. Steam Deck is listed as Unsupported and there are no macOS or Linux versions; the developers have said they are working on Proton support, without giving a date.
  5. On PS5 or Xbox Series X|S: you would be waiting until 2028 anyway, and online play on console will require a subscription on top of the game — PS Plus on PlayStation, Game Pass Essential or higher on Xbox. Factor that into the real cost when the time comes.
  6. Buying now? Know the first-week reality: launch day needed a stability hotfix for join and queue problems. If the game misbehaves, start with our crash-fix page; if it runs fine, our beginner tips cover what to do first.
  7. Waiting? Follow the official Steam news hub (linked in the sources below) — that is where BULKHEAD announces updates, and where any 1.0 or console date would appear first.
