WARDOGS Supporter Edition vs Standard: what the $10 difference buys

The short answer, checked October 28, 2026: WARDOGS sells in three pieces on Steam. The base game is $39.99, the cosmetic-only Supporter Pack DLC is $12.99, and the Supporter Edition — a static bundle of those two items — is $49.99. None of the extra money buys gameplay power: no in-game cash, no gold bars, no weapon unlocks. If you are unsure about the game, buy the base version and decide later; versus the bundle that route costs you $2.99, nothing else. Buy the Supporter Edition first only if you already know you want to fund the studio.

The three tiers side by side

TierWhat is in itPrice (US Steam)Verdict in one line
WARDOGS (base game) The full game $39.99 (Steam store page, 2026-10-28) The right buy for almost everyone
WARDOGS — Supporter Pack (DLC) Cosmetics only: three starter-weapon camos (Valkyra A-91, Lonestar Bushmaster, Manticore KH-2002), a Little Bird "Taxi" camo, a hideable scoreboard supporter icon, a grenade bobblehead, a helmet bobblehead $12.99 (Steam DLC page, 2026-10-28) The correct way to upgrade if you already own the game
WARDOGS — Supporter Edition (bundle) Base game + Supporter Pack, nothing more $49.99 (Steam package page, 2026-10-28) Saves $2.99 versus buying the two pieces separately ($52.98)

Steam's package page shows the arithmetic itself: the two items bought individually total $52.98, the package costs $49.99, and "Here's what you save by buying this package" is $2.99.

What the extra money actually buys

The bundle adds exactly the Supporter Pack. The official item list is short: camos for three starter weapons, one camo for the Little Bird helicopter, two bobbleheads, and a small supporter icon on the scoreboard that can be switched off in settings. That is everything.

BULKHEAD has been unusually blunt about what it does not buy. On the Steam listing the studio commits to three rules: no monetization during Early Access beyond this one optional edition; in-game cash and gold bars will never be sold; and camos will never be sold directly, because a camo should show the work a player put in, not the size of their wallet. The Supporter Edition is not a head start. It is a tip jar with a flag.

Can you upgrade for the difference later? The question the store page never answers

No — and this is where buyers keep getting burned. Our inference, drawn from how the store behaves rather than from anything the studio has written: the Supporter Edition acts like a static package, not a "Complete the Set" bundle. With Complete the Set, Steam subtracts what you already own and charges the remainder; with a static package, you pay the listed price regardless of your library. What buyers report matches the second case. Put the Supporter Edition in your cart while owning the base game and the cart does not deduct the copy you already own — the order comes out containing a second copy of the game, priced at the full $49.99.

Players reported a second problem on top of that one. In the Steam discussion boards and on r/WarDogs, between late August 2026 and September 11, 2026, owners of the pre-ordered standard edition wrote that the Supporter Pack was not sold on its own during the pre-order window, so the only way they found to get the cosmetics was to refund the game and rebuy the bundle. Several of them described the refund landing in under an hour, and it only worked cleanly inside Steam's usual limits (under two hours played, within fourteen days). They also reported that the pack became a separate $12.99 purchase once Early Access launched on September 10, 2026, after which refunding was no longer necessary. None of this timeline is stated on any official page — the store pages show only what is for sale today. Our updates page tracks that launch chronology.

What the store pages do state, in BULKHEAD's own words on the bundle page, is the studio's rule on monetization: there will be no monetization on WARDOGS during Early Access with the sole exception of this optional supporter edition. What they do not state is why an existing owner pays more than a bundle buyer for the same pack. Owners who buy the DLC pay $12.99 for the same cosmetics bundle buyers get for an effective $10.00. Our inference, not a statement from the studio: that $2.99 gap follows from the bundle behaving like a static package — the cart does not deduct the base game you already own — rather than from a store error. The players it hits hardest are exactly the early supporters: pre-order, play past the refund window, decide to back the studio, pay more than day-one bundle buyers.

What buyers actually say about the value

The split is cleaner than usual for a paid cosmetics tier. Buyers frame it as a donation with souvenirs: people who had already sunk hours into the closed alpha called the extra ten dollars worth it, and some said they would have paid more just to keep the studio funded through Early Access. The sceptics make one consistent objection — three of the four visible items are camos for starter weapons that most players replace within their first hours, so the parts you actually see fade out of your own loadout within days. Nobody pretends the bobbleheads or the scoreboard icon change anything.

One cautionary tale comes with a number attached. In the refund-and-rebuy rush of August 2026, players who waited too long discovered the refund window had closed and ended up owning the standard edition outright, then paying $12.99 on top — a few dollars poorer than if they had bought the right tier first. The two mistakes that cost real money are still the same two: buying the bundle while already owning the game, and buying the base game when you already knew you wanted to support the studio.

Who should buy which

  • Not sure about the game: base game, $39.99. BULKHEAD itself encourages refunding if the game does not live up to your expectations.
  • Sure about the game and want to back the studio: the Supporter Edition at $49.99, bought as your first and only purchase.
  • Own the base game and want the cosmetics: the Supporter Pack DLC at $12.99, accepting the $2.99 surcharge over bundle buyers.
  • Fly helicopters or love loadout cosmetics: the pack is aimed at you — the Little Bird camo and the gun skins are the only pieces you will actually see in play.
