WARDOGS servers: official or community, and which one to join
| Server type | Who runs it | How you pick it | Ping limit | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Official | BULKHEAD, the developer. | Hit DEPLOY, then choose Official. Since Patch 0.11 the Official browser has no filters, and BULKHEAD has not published a list of official server regions. | A maximum ping per region. Players who consistently exceed a server's limit over a sustained period are kicked, and a kicked player cannot rejoin the same server until the next map transition. BULKHEAD has not published the values. | Steam posts: Update 0.1.2, Patch 0.11, Season 02 patch notes |
| Community | Players, on servers they rent. BULKHEAD named QONZER, BisectHosting and xREALM as approved hosting partners. | Hit DEPLOY, choose Community, then click Region at the bottom of the list and pick the server's region. That step is from xREALM's guide, not from BULKHEAD. | The server owner sets it. Season 02 added maximum ping tags and filters to the server browser. | Steam post "The 11th Reason NOT To Buy WARDOGS", Season 02 patch notes, xREALM's join guide |
Patch 0.11 increased server capacity in Asia.
BULKHEAD has not published the ping values, so a page that quotes a specific threshold is not quoting BULKHEAD.
How to switch region
Official servers: BULKHEAD has not published a way to pick an official region by hand. The list you get after DEPLOY then Official has had no filters since Patch 0.11, and the regions on it are not a published list. If the list is empty or a join fails, use the WARDOGS can't join server page.
Community servers: hit DEPLOY, choose Community, click Region at the bottom of the list and pick the server's region. Then either search for the server by name and click Join Match, or click Join by ID, enter the Server ID from the xREALM server panel and click Lookup. This is xREALM's guide, not BULKHEAD's.
Kicked for high ping
Per the Season 02 patch notes, official servers enforce different maximum ping limits depending on their region. Players who consistently exceed a server's ping limit over a sustained period are automatically kicked, and a player kicked for high ping cannot rejoin the same server until the next map transition.
The notes give no numeric values, so no official threshold is published. Community server admins configure their own ping limits, and Season 02 added maximum ping tags and filters to the server browser.
A join that ends back at the menu is a different symptom. The can't join page splits those paths.
Which region is busiest
The only regional capacity statement BULKHEAD has published is Patch 0.11's increase of server capacity in Asia.
BULKHEAD has not published player counts by region.
