WARDOGS FOB: what it unlocks, and the order that keeps it standing
The answer, checked October 29, 2026: the FOB is the build zone, not the walls. Place it on ground your team can still hold after the fight moves, put the shell down before the emplacements, and feed it the supply type that is actually running dry. The rules changed in the October 14, 2026 Season 02 patch: structures cost more, a hammer no longer breaches doors or gates, and a destroyed drill rig cannot be replaced straight away.
What a FOB actually unlocks
A FOB adds no cover by itself. What it adds is permission: small defensive items go down anywhere, but the larger structures and every fixed defensive system need a FOB nearby and a higher-tier hammer. That is the whole reason a FOB is worth the trip.
Hammers come in three tiers — small, medium and large — and the FOB item itself is the only buildable that needs no hammer to place. Season 02 extended the ladder with the Wooden Step, the Large Shelter and the MG Nest.
| Hammer tier | Added in Season 02 |
|---|---|
| Small and above | Wooden Step |
| Medium and above | Large Shelter |
| Large | MG Nest |
The build order
- Pick the ground first. A FOB near the Control Zone, the Hot Zone, a tower, a supply route or defensible terrain earns its keep; one in a corner you abandon is a supply sink.
- Build the shell before the guns. Foundations and walls come first, because per the Season 02 patch notes an unfinished structure now collapses the moment it loses its support instead of hanging in the air.
- Stack what stacks. Barbed wire and sandbags now sit on top of Bremmer walls, so the wall is not the end of the layer. Tank traps only go on the defined surfaces.
- Emplacements last. The patch notes rebalanced the Talon, the Mortar and the drill rig to be slower to build and more expensive to keep active. A base that leads with guns is a base that runs dry first.
- Stop spamming. The medium hammer now contributes less per swing and critical spots give a smaller bonus, while the large hammer build rate is unchanged. One player cannot raise a base alone as fast as before.
Supply runs: match the load to what runs dry
Four supply types feed a base. Carrying the wrong one is the same as carrying nothing.
- Building supplies construct and repair the structures.
- Ammo supplies feed the static weapon emplacements.
- Fuel runs the drill rig and the vehicle support systems.
- Mechanical supplies feed the advanced support systems and the vehicle facilities.
Season 02 moved the Mechanical, Ammo and Fuel supply pallets out of the default unlocks and into the WARDOG track, so check your loadout before you promise a run. The patch notes also added delivery streaks: consecutive runs now pay a bonus, so a round trip beats dumping one load and leaving.
When your FOB gets hit
- Doors are no longer a hammer problem. Per the Season 02 patch notes a hammer cannot breach a door or a gate any more, and the Halligan bar can breach both. Carry one when you attack, and close your own doors — closing a friendly FOB door now pays.
- Rebuild from the ground up. An unfinished structure that loses its support collapses, so repair a broken wall rather than patching a floating section that is about to fall.
- Treat the drill rig as a rotation. Season 02 shortened how long a unit of fuel keeps it running, raised the fuel needed to start it, and increased the cooldown after it spawns. A destroyed rig cannot be replaced immediately, so keep a spare or a fuel buffer.
- Go heavy where it matters. The CIWS now shreds light cover but struggles against heavy fortifications, so heavy walls are the answer to it.
Attacking pays too: hacking an enemy FOB now also pays the teammates standing in its radius, and destroying one pays a bonus that scales with the supplies it held. The cash system itself is on the WARDOGS game page.
What the October 14, 2026 patch changed
Every guide ranking above this page was written before Season 02 and describes the old rules. This is what the official Season 02 patch notes changed about building.
| Area | Change | What it means in a match |
|---|---|---|
| Build costs | A full pass on build costs, speed and durability, “to make structures a considered investment rather than something you spam”. | Walls, doors and gates cost more build supply than in Season 1. |
| Hammers | Medium hammer contributes less per swing; critical spots give a smaller bonus; large hammer build rate unchanged. | Building is a group job again. |
| New structures | Wooden Step (small hammer and above), Large Shelter (medium and above), MG Nest (large hammer). | Every tier gained an option. |
| Doors and gates | No longer breachable with a hammer; the Halligan bar breaches both. Closing a friendly FOB door pays. | Attackers need the right tool; defenders get paid to shut the door. |
| Drill rig | Longer fuel burn, higher start fuel, larger tank, longer cooldown after spawn. | Rigs are a rotation, not a permanent buff. |
| Destruction | Unfinished buildables collapse without support; tank traps only on defined surfaces; CIWS tuned against light cover and heavy fortifications. | Half-built bases no longer hold. |
| Rewards | FOB hacking pays teammates in the radius; FOB destruction pays a bonus scaled to the supplies held, capped; delivery streaks reward consecutive runs. | Defending and hauling are paid work now. |
